Rebound by Aga Lesiewicz | a dark thriller

If you’re on the look out for a good thriller to while away these dark January nights, you could do worse than pick up a copy of Rebound by Aga Lesiewicz. Dark, and full of surprises and twists, this debut novel could become one of the most talked about books of 2016.

Rebound is the story of a media executive, Anna, who is somehow connected to a series of murders. The killings take place on a heath where Anna jogs and, as they happen, it becomes clear that each is in some way connected to her.

Anna has a lot of people in her life in one way or another and, although she doesn’t seem to suspect them, from the reader’s perspective almost any of them could be the killer.

There’s the ex husband who definitely capable of murder. Then there’s James, the boyfriend Anna dumped who might be motivated by revenge. Then there’s Tom, the neighbour who seems that bit too interested in Anna’s life and friends and Tom’s jealous wife, Samantha. Then there are the work colleagues Anna’s making redundant and there’s ’Dior man’ — a mysterious jogger with whom she forms an unusual connection. Add to that her dog minders, her locksmith, and a number of other minor characters with various degrees of access to Anna and her property that could make them suspects as the plot unfolds.

Aga Lesiewicz know how to keep her reader guessing and Rebound is a real page turner. If you liked Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, Rebound is likely to appeal. I enjoyed it.
